Your Work Environment at EXP
Under the leadership of the Project Manager based in our St. Johns NL office the GeoEnvironmental Engineer/Scientist will participate in the conception investigation and development of various commercial industrial and infrastructure projects within the Geotechnical and Environmental testing field across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Your Responsibilities
- Execute a range of Geotechnical and Environmental projects including:
- Geotechnical investigations
- Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Soil and groundwater quality assessments
- Contaminated site sampling and delineation
- Soil management projects in accordance with NL environmental regulations CCME guidelines and provincial permitting requirements
- Coordinate project logistics including utility locates site access borehole layout and contractor scheduling.
- Monitor geotechnical/environmental drilling test pit excavations soil/rock sampling and monitoring well installations using standard field methodologies under the supervision of senior engineers/professionals.
- Conduct water level monitoring and sampling programs.
- Prepare geotechnical and environmental reports ensuring deliverables meet project deadlines.
- Collect samples for environmental analytical testing properly document chainofcustody and submit to accredited laboratories.
- Perform desktop reviews data compilation and interpretation in support of Phase I/II ESA reports site characterization studies and NLspecific environmental compliance requirements (e.g. NL Environmental Protection Act Contaminated Sites Program CCME criteria).
- Assist with inspection and testing projects including report preparation data interpretation and client communication.
The Skills Knowledge and Ability We Seek
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering Earth Sciences Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
- Registration as a . or .
- 5 years of experience in a similar geotechnical or geoenvironmental role is preferred.
- Registered as a Environmental Site Professionalwith the NL Department of Environment Conservation and Climate Change is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador environmental regulations including:
- NL Environmental Protection Act (EPA)
- CCME Soil Quality Guidelines
- Provincial contaminated site management requirements
- Environmental site assessment best practices
- Ability to identify and resolve issues encountered on construction and field sites.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings specifications logs and technical documents.
- Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare clear field reports and recommendations.
- Strong organizational and timemanagement skills with high attention to detail.
- Valid drivers licence and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to job sites as required.
- A selfstarter with the potential and motivation to grow into a Project Manager role.
