Ruby on Rails Engineer

If you are an experienced engineer looking for a new challenge we are seeking a problem-solving driven individual to manage ATBS mission critical application that assists our clients navigate their tax and financial documents in order to keep their businesses running smoothly throughout the year.

• You are an experienced Ruby on Rails Engineer

About Your Team:

• Working with our 4-person Information Technology Team
• Comfortable working autonomously but open to collaborating at times

About the Opportunity:

• Own the overall application architecture built on Ruby on Rails PostgreSQL and Heroku
• Evaluate refactor and improve existing codebase for scalability performance and maintainability
• Make architectural decisions independently and communicate tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders
• Define technical standards best practices and documentation
• Develop and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails
• Build and maintain frontend and mobile-friendly experiences using Ionic and JavaScript
• Manage Heroku environments deployments add-ons and performance tuning
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for the application
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans
• Manage priorities timelines and scope without the support of a dedicated project manager
• Coordinate with internal teams vendors and leadership as needed
• Own or guide UX decisions in the absence of a dedicated designer
• Improve reliability security and observability
• Reduce reliance on external vendors through internal knowledge transfer

About Your Expertise:

• 7 years of professional software development experience
• 5 years of Ruby on Rails experience in production environments
• Strong experience with JavaScript and modern frontend practices
• Hands-on experience with Ionic (or similar hybrid mobile frameworks)
• Proven experience deploying and operating applications on Heroku
• Extensive experience integrating with Salesforce APIs and data models
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and lead technical decisions
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
