What This Role Involves
The HVAC Technician is responsible for operating inspecting maintaining and repairing HVAC refrigeration mechanical electrical and plumbing systems across assigned facilities. This role is essential to ensuring operational continuity energy efficiency and occupant safety through preventive maintenance and rapid response to repair needs.
Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
Perform preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders for mechanical electrical and building systems
Maintain operate and repair HVAC/R systems electrical distribution equipment and plumbing systems
Conduct facility inspections and due diligence reporting conditions that impact building operations
Ensure all work is performed safely by completing required safety training hazard assessments and maintaining clean work areas
Update work order status in real time using a CMMS system and complete vehicle safety inspections
Maintain compliance with all applicable State County and City codes and regulations
Identify safety hazards and recommend corrective actions
Attend required safety and work meetings
Remain available for on-call and emergency response assignments
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
4 years of hands-on experience in building engineering or facility maintenance
Strong technical background in HVAC/R plumbing and electrical systems
Universal EPA 608 Certification
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment
Ability to perform multi-skilled trade work
Strong customer service and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using CMMS systems and Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)
Trade school education or documented apprenticeship (HVAC refrigeration or electrical)
Experience with preventive maintenance programs
Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and equipment optimization
Familiarity with building codes safety regulations and inspection processes
Background in commercial or industrial facility environments
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly lift up to 80 lbs
Frequent climbing bending kneeling stooping and overhead work
Work in extreme heat and cold conditions
Climb ladders up to 30 ft while carrying tools
Work in mechanical rooms rooftops basements and other facility areas
Exposure to electrical mechanical and refrigeration systems
Availability for after-hours and emergency call-in work is required
