Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions to address academic stress emotional distress peer relationships and behavioral concerns.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans for students with emotional social or academic challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to monitor student progress and coordinate interventions when necessary.
- Organize and lead workshops on topics such as stress management self-esteem healthy relationships and career guidance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions student progress and intervention outcomes.
- Identify students at risk of emotional or behavioural issues and refer them to specialized mental health professionals when needed.
- Promote a positive school climate by advocating for mental health awareness and anti-bullying initiatives.
- Participate in staff training sessions and school-wide events to support student well-being.
- Stay updated on best practices in adolescent psychology child development and educational counselling.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Psychology Counselling Education or a related field.
- Minimum of 25 years of experience in student counselling preferably in an educational setting.
- Proven ability to counsel students on academic emotional and behavioural issues with empathy and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal active listening and communication skills with the ability to build trust with students and stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Proficiency in maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in counselling.
- Familiarity with adolescent development and mental health issues is common among school-going girls.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Comfortable working in a school environment with diverse student populations.
