The primary purpose of the Sous Chef role is to support the Head Chef and Culinary Team within our London Bistro office in Bank. The Sous Chef assists in the day to day operations of the corporate kitchen ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality nutritious and well-presented food for office staff and guests. This role is integral to maintaining operational efficiency organisation and culinary excellence while also promoting a positive professional and collaborative kitchen the absence of the Head Chef the Sous Chef assumes full responsibility for kitchen operations staff coordination and the maintenance of service and quality standards.

Your role:

  • Assist the Head Chef with food preparation cooking menu planning organisation (breakfast lunch or special events) and collaborate with that matter
  • Help in the design food testing and implementation of the food during the season.
  • Produce quality food for our staff & clients in both design and taste.
  • Monitoring the kitchen area and the staff to ensure sanitation standards are maintained
  • Training and supervise new kitchen members.
  • Daily checking up on our floors & satellite kitchens and making sure they are on high standard before leave
  • Assist with food labelling inventory & ordering
  • Ensure that food is high quality and that kitchen is in good clean and hygienic condition.
  • Ensuring all food products to be prepared are not expired
  • Deputising for the head Chef in their absence
  • Ensure every employee in the kitchen follows good hygiene practices is dressed in accordance with policy and arrives for work on time.
  • Offer suggestions and creative ideas that can improve the kitchens performance menu options and service levels.
  • Unloading and putting away deliveries & goods on daily basis
  • Monitor and maintain the kitchen equipment and report repairs and service as needed to our admin team
  • Coordinate satellite kitchen floors prep planning and ingredient tracking
  • Support sourcing ordering and stock management

Office & Administrative Support

  • Manage daily admin tasks scheduling and internal coordination
  • Assist with emails documentation and basic reporting
  • Help streamline systems and workflows for the Head Chef
  • Act as a point of contact between kitchen suppliers and external partners

Your responsibilities:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen role
  • 3 years experience in similar setting
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Comfortable working in an office-based environment alongside open kitchen operations
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • Confident with basic office tools (email spreadsheets documents)
  • Discreet reliable and professional

Physical requirements:

Physically demanding job. Must lift heavy objects. Stand on feet for long periods of time.
