About the Role:
The Senior Staff Software Engineer is a principal-level individual contributor and the foremost technical authority within a critical business or technology domain. This role transcends project-level execution to own the long-term technical health scalability and strategic evolution of our most complex systems. The Senior Staff Engineer combines the exemplary execution capabilities of a Staff Engineer with deep authoritative domain ownership acting as a technical pillar for the organisation by setting the vision for their area and cultivating deep expertise in others.

Key Responsibilities:
Domain Ownership & Vision: Own and articulate the long-term technical vision strategy and multi-year roadmap for a critical and complex domain ensuring it is prepared for future business needs
Architectural Stewardship: Act as the primary architectural authority for your domain. You will make key design decisions to ensure its solutions are scalable resilient and sustainable while ensuring these decisions align withand help evolvethe broader organisational standards and patterns championed by the Software Architect
Lead Foundational Projects: Lead the hands-on design and implementation of foundational projects that are technically ambiguous high-risk or fundamentally refactor the core logic of your domain
Exemplary Project Execution: Perform all duties of a Staff Engineer such as leading complex projects (both within and outside your domain) solving ambiguous problems and ensuring high-quality delivery
Cultivate Deep Expertise: Mentor other senior and staff-level engineers to build deep domain expertise effectively acting as the chief educator for your systems and business logic
Set the Technical Bar: Drive technical excellence and champion best practices within your domain setting the standard for quality performance and operational readiness

About You:
10 years of experience in software engineering with a proven track record of becoming a recognised expert in a complex software domain
Demonstrated experience in leading the architecture and rewrite of complex business-critical systems
Mastery of full-stack development (C#) and proficiency in modern front-end technologies (e.g. React)
Deep authoritative knowledge of event-driven architectures microservices and domain-driven design principles and a history of applying them to solve major architectural challenges
Exceptional and deep domain knowledge in a relevant business area
Proven ability to mentor other senior engineers effectively and influence technical direction through expertise
Strong understanding of database management (SQL Server/PostgreSQL) and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure AWS)
