Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Department: Projects

FLSA Status: Salaried

Reports to: Director of Preconstruction

Coordinates With: All

JOB SUMMARY: MSI seeks an experienced Mechanical Estimator to be responsible for providing detailed estimates based upon conceptual documents as well as schematic design development and construction documents. Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for all take-offs pricing and producing the final estimate to be incorporated into the final work product.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for assigned estimates.
  • Reviews vendor equipment submittals for accuracy and quality of products.
  • Prices change orders submitted by project managers.
  • Coordinates with Director of Preconstruction on final proposals.
  • Perform take-offs as needed for piping sheet metal and project required material.
  • Evaluate and identify project logistics & incorporate required costs into estimate.
  • Attend jobsite walk throughs as needed for upcoming project bids.
  • Evaluate proposals of equipment and project material the are acceptable per project specifications.
  • Promote and participate in education and training opportunities that allow the company and its employees to meet stated goals objectives and business plans.
  • Participate in trade/business associations that enhance the companys mission or business plan.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years trade experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC&R systems and related supporting utilities.
  • Estimating Skills
  • Experience with Estimating MEP Software by Trimble.
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to read and understand plans & specifications.
  • Knowledge of local and industry codes that regulate the HVAC&R industry.
  • Good Verbal and written communications skills.
  • Effective negotiator.
  • Computer Skills Excel
  • Microsoft Projects
  • Trade specific skills technical pipefitting ductwork etc.
