Position Overview

Paul Borg Construction Company is seeking an experienced Estimator with Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience to join our growing team in the Chicagoland area.

The Estimator will play a key role in the preconstruction process preparing accurate cost estimates developing scopes of work and supporting proposal submissions for JOC and other negotiated or bid construction projects. This role requires strong experience with unit-price estimating subcontractor coordination and construction cost analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed construction estimates and cost proposals for JOC task orders and other construction projects.
Review and interpret construction drawings specifications and project scopes.
Develop scopes of work and detailed cost breakdowns for renovation maintenance and improvement projects.
Utilize JOC pricing systems unit price books and construction cost databases to develop accurate pricing.
Conduct site visits and field verifications to evaluate project conditions.
Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes.
Collaborate with project managers superintendents and clients during the proposal and scope development process.
Assist with proposal preparation documentation and contract compliance for JOC task orders.
Maintain accurate records of estimates proposals subcontractor bids and project data.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options where applicable.

Required Qualifications

3 7 years of construction estimating experience preferably with JOC or task-order contracting.
Experience estimating commercial institutional or renovation construction projects.
Strong understanding of unit price estimating and JOC contracts.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings specifications and scopes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
Strong analytical communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Gordian JOC system or RSMeans cost databases.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering Architecture or related field.
Experience with public sector or municipal construction projects.
Familiarity with Chicago-area subcontractor market and pricing.
