TheProgram and LearningDesign Specialistwill leadthe collaborative development of the School of Health & Public Safetys (HPS) Curriculum Frameworka framework that intentionally builds durable (essential) skills and interprofessional collaborative competencies as well as profession specific competencies. The role isan enabling integrative and facilitative position thatleveragesthe Specialists curriculum design and pedagogicalexpertisewith their health care experienceto amplify align and refine the input of key partnersthat include faculty academic leadership and patient partners. These key partners bring deep disciplinary clinical and contextualexpertise and the Specialist integrates this with their program and learning designexpertiseand healthcare backgroundtocreate a curriculum framework that will shape the future of HPSs health programming.
Working alongside project leads from HPSs leadershipteam the Specialistwill lead a discovery processwhere existing programming within theSchoolwill be examinedtosupportcurriculum mappingandidentifyingopportunitiesforintentionally designinglearning experiencesto develop studentsessential skills and interprofessional collaborative goal is to co-create a curricular framework thatiseducationally soundusing evidence-based pedagogical approachesisfeasible and aligned with accreditation and institutional the existing program structure and courses could bemodifiedand role will use the framework to further clarify the resources needed for a phased implementation of the curriculum framework across HPS health programming aligning with the larger roadmap for the Center of Innovation in Healthcare Education (CIHE)implementation.
Success in this role is measured by the quality of collaboration clarity of shared understanding and usability of the resulting curriculum framework with a clear understanding of implications for implementation.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of knowledgeof/experience in healthcare systemsaccreditationand curriculum have a curious mindsetgoodunderstanding of pedagogyand experience in competency alignments. Furthermore you have strong skills in communicationcollaborationand are results-driven. Youcanincorporate adviceinsightsand feedback fromvariousinterest holders which could include butarenot limited to faculty curriculum administrators program development coordinators instructional designersacademicleadersand patient partners.

How youll contribute

    • Program Curriculum Discovery & Mapping
    • Review accreditation requirements competency profiles and CIHE plans; conduct literature and environmental scans.
    • Synthesize insights from faculty leadership patient partners and learners into shared language and design principles.
    • Lead curriculum mapping across HPS programs to identify gaps opportunities and integration points for IPE and durable skills.
    • Analyze program outcomes and recommend course/program structure changes to explicitly embed interprofessional and durable skills.
    • Assess learner characteristics to ensure recommendations meet learner needs and are feasible across programs.
    • Learning Design & Pedagogical Guidance
    • Provide expertise in curriculum design interprofessional education and durable skills development.
    • Ensure framework development is grounded in evidencebased pedagogically sound models (e.g. Brenners).
    • Apply learning design principles to refine and integrate partner input effectively.
    • Align framework recommendations with bestpractice teaching learning and competency development methods.
    • CurriculumFramework Development
    • Translate evidence and collective insights into practical components of a cocreated curricular framework.
    • Lead drafting refinement and validation of the framework to ensure alignment with SAIT policies and accreditation requirements.
    • Design a structure supporting durable skills interprofessional competencies and professionspecific skills in a scaffolded manner.
    • Provide guidance on experiential learning assessment alignment competency progression and integration across credential levels.
    • Advise on effective use of proposed facilities to support teaching and learning.
    • Project Enablement & Participant Engagement
    • Facilitate inputgathering through workshops focus groups and collaborative sessions.
    • Support psychologically safe interdisciplinary dialogue and help translate tacit expertise into actionable curriculum insights.
    • Collaborate with project managers to define timelines milestones dependencies and risks.
    • Provide updates documentation and ensure learning design elements are incorporated into broader implementation roadmaps.
    • Future Forecasting
    • Estimate resource requirements and impact of framework implementation across programs.
    • Identify ongoing resource needs to maintain the framework in collaboration with Teaching and Learning Commons teams.

What you bring

    • Required
    • Bachelors degree in Healthcare or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Formal training in education or curriculum design
    • Experience working in a healthcare environment (e.g. Allied Health or Nursing)
    • Experience in clinical education training or facilitation
    • Familiarity with accreditation standards and competency-based education
    • Strong facilitation skills and ability to work with diverse interest holders
    • Comfortable using digital tools including AI to support first drafts of educational materials in an ethical and responsible manner
    • Preferred/Assets
    • Advanced experience in clinical education or curriculum development
    • Experience supporting or leading accreditation-related initiatives
    • Demonstrated interest in improving patient care outcomes
