This position facilitates day-to-day clinical operations in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager and works closely with the other Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) to ensure seamless coordination of care. You will assist with clinical activities and provide leadership support. The CRN demonstrates excellent clinical expertise in Oncology and Systemic Therapy nursing as well as exceptional leadership skills communication coaching and mentoring abilities.
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of quality patient delivery.
- Serve as a clinical role model resource and facilitator for clinical nursing practice and professional accountability
- In collaboration with the leadership team develops implements and evaluates systems/innovations to maximize quality patient care derived from evidence-based practice i.e. CCO and CANO Standards of care Clinical practice guidelines
- Facilitate continuity of care between the Systemic Suite Outpatient Clinics Radiation clinic Clinical Trials FOCUS clinic and the inpatient areas
- Apply knowledge of systemic treatment regimens to create weekly nursing assignments that ensure balanced workloads and patient safety
- Provide patient care as required
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and staff development and facilitate the delivery of quality patient care
- Engage in critical teaching skills to promote collaboration and partnership between interdisciplinary team members patients and their families.
- Develop facilitate and support effective communication techniques between nursing staff patients and families and members of the patient care team
- Facilitate develop & support effective communication between the Systemic Suite all Oncology clinics and the inpatient units to ensure quality of care is maintained
- Utilize effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills in the ongoing promotion of quality care outcomes
- Function in the role of Navigator to assist patients and families through the disease trajectory
- Monitor and evaluate the care delivered to Oncology patients.
- Coordinate the management of patient care activities in the clinic and ensure adherence to policies procedures standards of practice and quality management initiatives
- Participate in human resource management and development
- Promote and facilitate education opportunities for nursing staff
Qualifications :
- Current Registration in good standing with College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
- Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred
- Masters prepared or in progress desired
- Current Chemotherapy certification through an accredited organization required
- Central Venous Access Device certification or equivalent including but not limited to Port-a-Catheters P.I.C.C.s Tunneled Catheters
- Peripheral access device and infusion management
- 3 years minimum experience of Chemotherapy and/or Biologics Administration in an Outpatient setting
- Current CPR certification
- CANO membership an asset
- Knowledge of CANO standards for Oncology Nursing required
- National Certification in Oncology Nursing an asset
- Previous leadership experience an asset
- Demonstrable critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage emotionally charged situations in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrable symptom assessment skills common to the oncology patient population
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record
Additional Information :
Hours: Monday to Friday days; (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $44.55 to $61.95 per hour
