Job Summary
EMCOR Mechanical Services has an opportunity for a Controller in Lanham Maryland. The Controller will let the Accounting team is responsible for oversight of various accounting functions and is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting maintaining strong internal controls and supporting executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in finance or accounting a commitment to compliance internal control a passion for continuous improvement and a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of financial integrity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Perform month end close out procedures and prepare and oversee the production of timely accurate and auditable financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Compliance and Audit: Lead the accounting team in accumulating all required documentation for internal audit. Collaborate with internal auditors to ensure smooth audit processes and compliance with all regulatory requirements addressing audit findings effectively.
- Internal Controls: Develop implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard the companys financial resources and ensure proper documentation.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor the accounting team fostering professional growth while driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
- ERP & Systems Optimization: Leverage ERP systems and accounting software to streamline workflows improve efficiency and enhance reporting capabilities.
- Executive Support: Provide financial reporting and strategic insights to senior leadership to aid in business decision-making.
- Corporate Reporting: Prepare or oversee the preparation of various annual reporting requirements related to tax filings fixed assets treasury risk management premiums and more.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Working with the President develop budgets and financial forecasts providing insights and recommendations based on analysis.
- Operational Excellence: Collaborate with managers in multiple functions including HR billing purchasing warehouse sales and customer service support to ensure best practices continuous improvement and com
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Masters degree (MSA MPA or MBA) is a plus in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in accounting or finance leadership required ten (10) preferred.
- Work experience in service construction or other related industry preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing an accounting team including the AP and AR functions implementing controls and working with external auditors
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and experience in preparing auditable financial statements.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Experience with job costing and COINS ERP preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with a disciplined work ethic high energy level and professional passion for accounting.
- Proven ability to motivate and manage a team strong collaboration coaching influencing and facilitation skills a must.
- Strong project management skills.
- Highly detailed with excellent analytical organizational problem-solving and time management skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
This position works in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
