Job Description Summary:

The Postdoctoral Fellow will engage in advanced mentored research at the intersection of implementation science cost-effectiveness analysis community-engagement and global health. Working closely with Dr. Sarah Kessler and other clinical and research faculty in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health the Fellow will contribute to the design execution and dissemination of research focused on improving the delivery quality and sustainability of health interventions in resource-constrained settings.

The position emphasizes professional development and preparation for independent research careers. The Fellow will receive structured mentorship in implementation science frameworks mixed-methods research and economic evaluation and will be encouraged to develop a distinct scholarly trajectory build interdisciplinary collaborations and present findings at national and international conferences. Additional opportunities include mentoring junior trainees and participating in team-science activities consistent with institutional policies. This role is well suited for candidates with prior research experience and a strong interest in implementation science cost-effectiveness analysis and global health.

Research Overview

  • Work independently and collaboratively on research projects.

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

  • Assist with development of grant proposals and scientific manuscripts.

  • Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook documenting all calculations work experiments and other pertinent research information.

Expectations

  • Read literature articles develop new ideas and assimilate the information into project design/interpretation.

  • Lead and support implementation science studies.

  • Support and engage in research efforts in community clinics and service organizations.

  • Contribute to economic and cost-effectiveness analyses.

  • Collaborate with domestic and international partners.

  • Develop manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.

  • Develop proposals for external funding.

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD in public health sociology mental health psychology or related field.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices enhances collaboration with external partners and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience with implementation research cost or cost-effectiveness analyses and/or global or low-resource settings.

  • Experience with quantitative and/or mixed methods research.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to education experience and training qualifications relative to the requirements of the position and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
