Job Summary

Position Title: Bilingual Classroom Assistant

We are looking for Bilingual Classroom Assistants to supports teachers in the classroom. This role involves translating and interpreting aiding in lesson delivery and providing individualized support to ensure all students can succeed academically.

What you will be doing

  • Assisting the teacher with daily classroom activities including preparing materials setting up equipment and organizing instructional spaces.
  • Assistin with supervision of children to ensure required adult to child ratios
  • Aid with supervision escorting and movement of students during the school day during emergency drills and between class times (e.g. lunch recess playground physical education class etc.).
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students needing additional help as well as reinforcing lessons to support their language development.
  • Help deliver lessons under the teachers guidance ensuring that all students can participate and understand the material especially those with limited English or Spanish proficiency.
  • Support classroom management by monitoring student behavior and helping to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Assist in bridging cultural gaps between students families and the school promoting an inclusive and respectful environment.
  • Assist in assessing student progress and provide feedback to the teacher on student performance and areas needing additional support.

What you bring to the table

  • Graduation from high school and two years of college course work or possess an Associates or higher degree.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting or working with children is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to build rapport with students parents and staff.
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to be patient and empathetic when working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adaptability to assist with various tasks and adjust to the changing needs of the classroom.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance and performance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-timeemployment 10-months non-exempt standard workweek of 27.5 hours per week
  • This position is for in-person work at our location
  • 179 instructional days 194 work days (new staff members work additional days for induction/orientation)
  • In some cases the starting salary may be non-negotiable
  • To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
