Job Summary

In this role students support day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance activities across corporate buildings and related systems. You will gain hands-on experience assisting with routine maintenance inspections minor repairs and service requests while working alongside certified trades and experienced facilities staff. This role provides practical exposure to facilities operations work order systems safety practices and building systems in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance activities across facilities including basic electrical mechanical plumbing carpentry and general building tasks under guidance and supervision.
  • Support certified and licensed trades staff during inspections maintenance and repairs of building systems and equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency facility inspections and maintenance activities using established checklists; document findings and complete required logs and records.
  • Complete assigned work orders and service requestsboth routine and urgentusing the facilities work order system following established priorities and timelines.
  • Assist with building lighting inspections and relamping as required.
  • Assist with furniture fixture and equipment (FFE) installations relocations and setups within and between buildings including use of material handling equipment and company vehicles where authorized.
  • Maintain accurate records related to completed work inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Follow all corporate policies safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements related to facilities life safety and environmental practices.
  • Support general facilities operations and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Required

  • Formally enrolled in a recognized co-operative education program.
  • Enrolled in a program related to Facilities Management Building Systems Construction Trades Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in building maintenance or facilities operations.
  • Ability to use computers or mobile devices for work orders email and basic documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good communication skills and a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Valid provincial drivers license.

Preferred

  • Previous co-op part-time or summer experience in facilities maintenance construction or a related field.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and general maintenance tasks.
  • Awareness of workplace safety practices and building codes.
  • Interest in pursuing a skilled trade technologist or facilities-related career path.

Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. You must be eligible to work in Canada.


Additional Information :

Compensation 
The expected hourly rate for this position is $18.41 $21.86. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience and academic years completed to date. As part of student placement you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
