JOB SUMMARY

The Academic Grants Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Benedict Colleges expanding research and institutional grant portfolio by managing both pre-award and post-award activities. This position works closely with faculty staff and administrators across the full grant lifecyclefrom identifying opportunities and developing proposals to managing awarded funds ensuring compliance and facilitating successful closeout. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (flexibility required during deadlines). A Hybrid or remote work schedule may be considered with supervisor approval.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify and share funding opportunities.
  • Assist with proposal narratives budgets and compliance review.
  • Submit applications through federal and sponsor systems ( NSF NIH eRA Commons).
  • Set up and monitor awards ensuring expenditures align with budgets and regulations.
  • Prepare financial and programmatic reports for sponsors.
  • Manage budget revisions no-cost extensions and closeouts.
  • Oversee sub-awards and review invoices.
  • Support audit readiness and maintain compliance with 2 CFR 200.
  • Provide training and guidance to faculty on grant processes.
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelors degree in business finance public administration or related field or Masters degree or CRA or CFRA certification or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in grants administration (pre- and/or post-award) preferably in higher education or research.
  • Strong understanding of federal grant regulations particularly 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance.
  • Familiarity with major federal agencies (NSF NIH DOE DOL DoD) and their electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles cost accounting standards and financial reporting.
  • Strong skills in budget preparation financial monitoring and compliance.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite utilizing Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint Microsoft Teams and grant management systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires sedentary work that involves walking standing lifting carrying pushing and pulling some of the time. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work environmentrisks exposure to no known environmental hazards.
