Human Resources Management (HRM) focuses on providing HRM support to employees and management for both academic and professional staff. From the first contact a potential employee has with TU/e to the end of their contract (i.e. inflow throughflow and outflow). You enjoy taking up a variety of HR tasks keeping an overview with the help of HR data and aligning your work with the needs of the faculties. Youll work closely with department leadership and HR Services to ensure seamless HR operations and contribute to a positive work culture. Job Description

In this all-round position you deal with all aspects of the HR field. About you:

  • You thrive on finding ways to support managers with their people management tasks whose main focus is on research and education and not on management.
  • You enjoy building a relationship with our (academic) managers where you develop from HR advisor to trusted HR (business) partner. You support the manager where possible supported by HR data in keeping an overview and understanding the business needs. Your unsolicited advice is heard and taken seriously.
  • You understand HR is a balance act between the advisory role and an operational role when you ensure the processes are correctly set up. You acknowledge the importance of performing your administrative tasks correctly and on time. TU/e works with AFAS Insite.
  • You really want to know the department you work for inside and out. This knowledge enables you to advise colleagues of HRM policy or development on trends or recurring issues surpassing an individual department.
  • You balance the business approach with a warm understanding of people. Enabling you to coach management and employees in a respectful way contributing to a smoothly running team or de-escalating complex cases.
  • You can keep your focus decide what to prioritize and what not keep an overview of what needs to be done why when and how.
  • You are a colleague that contributes to the success of our HR team. By sharing ideas and contributing to university-wide projects.
  • You have a positive mindset and like to contribute to a good atmosphere.

About your colleagues
The HRM service department consists of approximately 120 enthusiastic colleagues. You are part of a team of 25 HR Advisors and regularly meet and exchange ideas and best practices. You also work closely with the HRM colleagues of services recruitment policy development and other experts. You are seconded to the department where you work closely with your colleague HR advisor and colleagues of HR Services.

You are also part of an international diverse and collaborative community and work closely with top-tier scientists and innovators within the department.

The Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (CE&C) department delivers high-quality education and research in chemical engineering and chemistry aiming to tackle complex societal challenges and advance fundamental science and technological innovation.

Together with department leadership and staff we focus on topics such as leadership development onboarding and the annual dialogue. In the department we work in a team with 4 HR colleagues (HR advice and HR services).

Job Requirements

  • You have a Bachelors or Masters degree in HRM or in another relevant field.
  • You have 5 years of HR work experience at advising level within a complex (and preferably similar) organization.
  • You have an excellent oral and written command of both the Dutch and English languages.
  • You have strong communication skills are able to connect and adapt quickly and get to the heart of the matter easily where possible with a sense of humor.
  • You can maintain overview and your style of working is people- and process-oriented.
  • You have a high degree of independence and flexibility.
  • You have a positive attitude and you like to think in terms of opportunities.
  • You are resilient and result-oriented.
  • You can make a contribution to continuous improvement of HRM and the HR advisory role within it.
  • You want to be part of- and contribute to the HRM-team and department-team.

Conditions of employment
