About the role
We are seeking an experienced Social Planner to lead the Social Strategy function of the City Strategy Team at City of Parramatta Council. This role will be responsible for leading a team of professionals to deliver a range of work that seeks to address the social needs of City of Parramatta including:

  • Community infrastructure planning
  • Social Impact Assessment of development proposals and projects
  • Demographic analysis and research to address identified challenges
  • The preparation of strategies and action plans to coordinate action
  • Monitoring and implementation of Councils Social Sustainability Strategy

The City Strategy Team is a multi-disciplinary team covering Social Strategy and Environmental Strategy functions with an agile operating model which ensures we can target a strategic and prioritised response to the Citys opportunities and challenges.This approach is suited to those who are accustomed to fast-paced working environments and can quickly change focus or prioritise their work program as needed.The team consists of multi-disciplinary professionals from a range of backgrounds to better enable City Strategy to support the broad needs of our community.


About you
Applicants may come from a wide range of backgrounds however they will be enthusiastic driven and proactive with the ability to work independently efficiently and effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes.

Applicants will have:

  • Significant experience in the field of social planning land-use planning community development or a related field.
  • Significant experience leading and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in the development of integrated approaches to strategy utilising contemporary methodologies in either private or public sector.
  • Proven ability to work with initiative and versatility on a wide range of matters including solving a range of complex problems through innovation and collaboration.

This role will suit a person with a positive and proactive can-do attitude who is creatively minded achieves outcomes and can problem solve complexities.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree level qualifications in strategy project management or a relevant field

We are offering an attractive salarypackage starting from $146512.94 p.a. plus 12% Superannuation based on skills and experience.
