Job Summary

Position Summary

Ricks Center for Gifted Children at the University of Denver is an exemplary program designed for gifted children. Established in 1984 Ricks provides nationally recognized gifted education to approximately 150 students ranging from preschool through eighth grade who demonstrate exceptional differentiated abilities andlearning. The Ricks Center offers a progressive model of education focused on developing the intellectual social emotional creative and physical needs of the gifted child. Our student body benefits from small class sizes expert teachers a wide range of content offerings an integrated curriculum and a focus on community care and engagement.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Provide coverage in the primary library area to help keep our school safe.

  • Support staff with copies laminators basic tasks you can manage in the space etc.
  • Answer emails take messages and forward messages as needed.
  • Serve as a book aide: scan and catalogue books with Libib software help students check out books reshelve books make book recommendations occasional story times
  • Inform admin when you are stepping away from the library desk to foster seamless coverage.
  • Supervise the hallway primary bathrooms and open space adjacent to the library.
  • Complete mandatory health training to provide auxiliary support to the front desk health clerk by taking temperatures and giving out band aids and ice packs. Sterilize returned ice packs. Escalate health concerns to the Front Desk health clerk as needed.
  • Possible other duties / duty coverage as assigned.

  • Increase student comfort and health.
  • Implement systems for parent and teacher communication around health concerns

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a self-starter and confident in emergency situations
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required within 30 days of entering the position
  • Conscientiousness and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with school-age children

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:30 - 3:30 pm with a 30 minute lunch break

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
  • May occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs.

Hourly Range:
The hourly rate for the position is $24.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
