The Office of Military and Veteran Student Success a unit within the Department of Diversity Equity and Inclusion is dedicated to providing student veterans and military-connected students with an enriching and inclusive environment. The office works with university and community partners to provide a student experience that allows student veterans and military-connected students to achieve educational and career goals through academic success and community partnerships.
The Opportunity:
UCF Military and Veteran Student Success seeks a Student Resource Specialist II for the Soldiers to Scholars program. This position coordinates the after-school curriculum for K5 students and oversees student veteran mentors ensuring proper training schedule management and compliance with program requirements. The Specialist II develops and implements curriculum and instructional materials and provides mentor-ship support to ensure daily functionality and overall success of the program. Responsibilities may include administrative support as well as assistance with human resource processes.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates and implements the after-school curriculum for K5 students participating in the Soldiers to Scholars Program.
Develops daily lesson plans and structured activities that support academic achievement and positive youth development.
Oversees and supports student veteran mentors including scheduling supervision and ongoing guidance.
Monitors mentor engagement and performance to ensure alignment with program goals and expectations.
Tracks academic and training requirements for student veterans to ensure compliance with program and university standards.
Maintains accurate records of mentor and scholar participation training completion and academic progress.
Serves as liaison with Eagle Nest Elementary School to provide continuous feedback and improvement to the after-school curriculum.
Provides administrative and operational support for the daily functioning and overall success of the Soldiers to Scholars Program including other duties as assigned.
Ability to transport students and/or children to various locations as needed ensuring safety and compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 2 years of relevant experience or a Masters degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with elementary students.
Familiarity with the military or military experience.
Reading instruction background or a strong understanding of early literacy development.
Experience in training and mentoring students.
Experience facilitating or delivering supplemental instruction.
Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
Supports a community-based program located off UCFs main campus; this position works fully on-site in Orlando FL.
Position requires a valid Class E drivers license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
This position requires a Level 2 Background Check through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Clearinghouse prior to employment.
