Description of Work
Salary Range: $39671 - $69426Reporting to the Maintenance/Construction Supervisor II the Maintenance/Construction Technician III position requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities related equipment and machinery. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Functioning at the journey level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical plumbing masonry heating and air or similar specializations.
- Completing complex work assignments which require planning and/or coordinating multiple trade disciplines.
- Working assigned tasks independently and referring very technical and/or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration.
- Supervising offender workers engaged in semiskilled unskilled or of skilled maintenance assignments.
- Ensuring compliance with work orders.
- Maintaining equipment in proper working conditions.
- Selected candidate may be scheduled to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staffing coverage.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Working knowledge of the methods practices tools and/or materials used in the general maintenance and/or repair of buildings equipment and/or machinery Knowledge of Prisons policy and procedures
Necessary Special Qualification:
MAY require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC09. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase May result.

Scotland Correctional Institution is located in Laurinburg North Carolina and houses up to 1800 male offenders in a close medium and minimum custody facility.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas
