The Centre for Academic Advising and Student Success at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the contract position of Interim Academic Advisor.
What youll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager Centre for Academic Advising and Student Success the role of the Interim Academic Advisor is to provide academic advising to students including support with academic goal setting course selection and scheduling selection of majors minors and concentrations program planning and understanding academic policies and procedures. The Interim Academic Advisor is also responsible for monitoring students academic progress supporting students experiencing academic difficulty referring students to other support services acting as a resource for faculty and other university personnel on advising and related matters creating and maintaining academic advising resources coordinating and promoting academic advising events and representing the Centre for Academic Advising and Student Success internally and externally.

You possess an undergraduate degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience and a strong commitment to equity diversity inclusion and accessibility. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. You are an excellent relationship builder with ability to deal confidentially and flexibly with students from diverse personal and academic backgrounds and with diverse needs and interests. You must possess effective oral and written communication skills strong organizational abilities and well-developed computer skills. You have the ability to work well as a part of a team and independently. University work experience familiarity with high school and community college education and programs and an awareness of current and emerging job markets for university graduates are desirable. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint) and have an aptitude for or previous experience using business enterprise systems such as Colleague and SharePoint.
Classification: 5 Months Full-Time Temporary Contract Position (possibility of extension)
Starting Salary: $64689 per annum (prorated as approx.$26124 to reflect the term)
Start Date: February to June 26 2026
