The Wastewater Assistant Lab Technician performs a variety of routine chemical and biochemical analysis on influent and effluent wastewater and the raw and digested biosolids as necessary for plant process control and to satisfy reporting requirements.
This position collects samples for in house laboratory testing and for specialized tests shipped to contracted labs. Keeps accurate records and inputs lab data into the operations database. Runs the laboratory in the absence of the Lab Technician.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs chemical and biological tests on wastewater and sludge waste streams within the facility
Maintains and updates QA/QC records and requirements
Calibrates operates and also maintains specialized lab equipment
Analyzes and interprets lab results to make timely adjustments in chemical feed rates
Assumes necessary duties of the laboratory Lab Technician when absent
Sample of Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
An Associate degree with major emphasis in chemistry biology or science related field or equivalent experience and training
1 year of laboratory experience in water chemistry including biological and chemical analysis of water and/or wastewater preferred
Possession (or the ability to attain) the State of Wisconsin Wastewater Operator certification along with the L (Laboratory) sub grade
Starting Pay Rate: $28.02/hour
