Summary Statement
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. - Plans assigns supervises and evaluates the work of staff responsible for the supervision of habilitative programs physical care activities and general residential services.
- Prepares performance evaluations on all subordinate directors and department heads and oversees labor relations for all residential services.
- Instructs supervisors and professional staff in active treatment services and develops the standards and goals for service provision and implementation of habilitative residential services.
- Plans and coordinates the development of the budget for Stockley Center residential services.
- Allocates staff and resources to the program units.
- Maintains a comprehensive record keeping system which insures that the rights of the developmentally disabled clients being served are not abridged.
- Acts in absence of the supervisor.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS forDevelopmental Disabilities Director Residential Services
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Possession ofa Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioralor Social Science or related field.
- Three years experience inhealth or human services program administration such as overseeing and directing the development implementation and evaluation of health or human services programs and services; planning and establishing short and long range program goals and objectives. Providing advice to other agency organizational units through consultation.
- Six months experience in strategic planning such as planning and mapping a path between the present and future usually for three to five years by determining key objectives how to accomplish the key objectives what strategies should be used what activities would contribute to accomplishing the key objectives and developing performance measures to gauge and report progress or success.
- Six months experience inoperations management which includes planning directing coordinating controlling and evaluating operations typically through subordinate supervisors.
- Three years experience in developing policies and procedures.

Criminal background check:A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.
Upon a conditional offer the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.
All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
