Job Description

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) a member of the Texas A&M University System welcomes applicants for anInstructional Assistant Professor of Special Education to beginFall 2026.

TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8000 students located in Laredo Texas a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery teaching and learning community engagement and public service and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information please visit is anon tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor (9-month faculty position; 3-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on annual evaluations and performance). Primary duties will includeteaching 15 semester credit hours (the equivalent of five courses) per semester in various modalities including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also includementoring students and providing service on departmental college university and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold adoctorate in Special Education or a related field. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment. All specializations will be considered. We strongly encourage candidates with a strong record of working in the Special Education field in the public school setting the ability to teach in areas that complement/strengthen our programs hold State of Texas Special Education Teacher Certification and/or Educational Diagnostician Certification preferred.
