Job Summary

General Summary:

Astronics Test Systems is looking for a Field Application Engineer to join our Communications Test Equipment team which is responsible for assisting with pre and post sales activities along with developing hardware and software necessary to perform functional and diagnostic testing on various electrical assemblies (Unit Under Test or UUT). The duties of this position will include interacting with customers along with understanding and capturing customer requirements and creating new designs to meet project needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide pre-sale and post-sale product support to include trade shows customer demos and on-site training.

2. Understand customer requirements and use cases and provide feedback to engineering.

3. Understand and assist with implementing future multi-band waveforms.

4. Generate initial test applications (TPS) to be used for customer demos.

5. Assist with implementation and release of defined test applications.

6. The ability to work within a group and individual environment.

7. Travel is required.

Job Specifications:

Qualifications:

1. Ability to communication and interact with end users both military and commercial.

2. Experience and understanding in the application of principles theories concepts practices and standards relating to modern software-defined architectures.

3. Analytical reasoning and problem solving with knowledge in performing root cause analysis and recommending correct action to resolve test failures.

4. RF knowledge and experience with using communication and/or bench test equipment to include but not limited to oscilloscope multimeter and audio generator.

5. Experience with software development in C C and C#.

6. Knowledge of Labview desired.

7. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

8. Must be a US person.

Education/Experience:

1. Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (BSEE) with emphasis in Computer Science is preferred.

2. Minimum 5 years experience or equivalent background.

3. Experience with working with military installations.
