What Youll Do
Youll lead a full two-pizza engineering team thats transforming how promotions work for everyday essentials at scale. Your team sits at a unique crossroadsbuilding experiences for selling partners internal stakeholders platform teams across Amazon and ultimately influencing how millions of customers discover apply and shop with promotions.
Youll be tackling genuinely hard problems: How do you build ML models that predict when customers need to reorder How do you create promotion tools that prevent gaming and abuse while still delighting legitimate customers How do you design systems that enable multiple promotion types to work together seamlessly without breaking the economics
Your team will own the full stackfrom distributed big-data pipelines and ML models that personalize promotions based on consumption patterns to intelligent tools that help selling partners optimize their promotional strategies to the customer-facing experiences that surface the right discount at exactly the right moment in their shopping journey.

Some mornings start early connecting with the global science team on ML model performance before your day begins. Youll coach engineers on career goals review architecture with the Promotions Platform team on new incentive types and partner with partner teams on optimization strategies. Youll present to executive leadership based on your subject matter expertise. Youll tackle technical challengesfrom preventing promotion abuse to integrating with Rufuswhile making build-vs-reuse decisions. Some days youll join calls with global partners to strategize on personalized targeting approaches. Youll leverage mechanisms like sprint planning and monthly technical reviews to maintain operational excellence.

- 7 years of engineering experience
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
