Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Rigger Chargehand for our Fittershop - Engineering to join our busy fishing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising rigging activities and ensuring safe efficient deck operations.

  • Reporting to: Fittershop Foreman
  • Department: Engineering Workshop
  • Location: South Arm Road V&A Waterfront

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Lead and supervise rigging crew
  • Assist the Foreman in effectively ensuring that work conditions on the vessel are safe to carry out operations.
  • Effectively provide instructions and engage in collaborative efforts with the Crane Operator to facilitate the lifting and placement of the component onto the quay side
  • Rig the vessels engine or pumps onto the deck.
  • Conduct safety checks and toolbox talks
  • Provide workshop members with clear instructions regarding the essential instruments they should bring.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a Rigger Chargehand
  • 4 5 years rigging experience
  • Trade Test Qualification

KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES

  • HSE (health safety environmental) knowledge: A strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures including knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environment
  • Rigging techniques: Proficiency in various rigging techniques including lifting hoisting and securing loads using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Understanding the mechanical aspects of marine components and systems
