Job Summary

Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our dedicated and supportive team in the Ferns Surgical Ward.

The Surgical Wardis a busy and acute 36 bed mixed surgical ward that sees both adult and paediatric patients. Procedures include joint replacements general and bariatric surgery colorectal surgeries gynaecology and urology procedures ENT and ophthalmology.

As Registered Nurse you will be responsible for the provision of a high standard of patient care in a safe and cost-effective manner.

This 1-year fixed term contract position is offering 35 hours per week on a part time basis.

As a Registered Nurse you will:

  • Assess plans deliver and evaluate patient care seeking support from senior staff as required.

  • Promote and contribute to effective communication facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital.

  • Provide patient education and act as a resource where appropriate.

  • Supports and supervises staff and students as required and within the scope of nursing practice.

  • Promotes and contributes to effective communication facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the ward and within the hospital.

  • Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives.

To be successful in this role you will hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and have recent surgical experience particularly in the care of post-operative patients. You will demonstrate an understanding of relevant acts codes and standards applicable to current practice along with a strong commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.

Competence in inserting male and female catheters and managing patient-controlled analgesia in accordance with protocol is essential. Additionally you will bring well-developed communication conflict resolution negotiation and problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Salary: $82945 to $106630 per annum (pro-rata) plus 12% superannuation

  • Fixed term part-time position working 35 hours per week
