Description
The Head Swim Coach is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the April Swim Stroke Clinic and College Station Tsunami Summer Swim Team; overseeing practices swim meets and related activities as well as providing training and personal development of all levels of competitive swimming while promoting a positive recreation environment and good personal behavior.
Principal Duties
- Responsible for all aspects of the April Swim Stroke Clinic and Tsunami Summer Swim Team to include but not limited to planning preparing conducting supervising and attending daily workouts and meets; developing team motivation; and overseeing swimmers at team functions while providing a healthy safe and nurturing environment.
- Responsible for leading developing providing direction and assigning responsibilities to the Swim Coaches as well as overseeing day-to-day activities.
- Develop goals and strategies for providing effective training programs that maximize each swimmers long term development and for a successful Clinic and Swim Team.
- Operate all aspects of the HyTek swim team & meet manager data software to include inputting data uploading data files into the HyTek meet manager and attending HyTek system training as required and/or needed.
- Monitor facility and patrons ensuring compliance to rules regulations policies and procedures; ensuring the proper use and safety measures of all equipment and supplies; ensuring facilities are properly maintained in clean and safe condition and reporting items in need of repair.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Knowledge of coaching youth and the sport of swimming. Ability to teach the technical aspects of each swim stroke Pass NWAL (Northwest Aquatic League) Coaches Certification. Ability to work schedule specific to assigned program which may include evening and/or weekend hours (refer to following program/schedule documentation).

Drug Screening: Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.
