Location: Juneau Alaska
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
The Juneau School District seeks a superintendent who blends collaborative steady evidence-based leadership with vision creative thinking and adaptability. We anticipate hiring a leader who will strengthen trust within the district and the community support existing programs and explore cutting-edge educational opportunities for all students.
Desired characteristics qualities and experiences include:
- A community-engaged leader who builds a positive educational culture and restores trust through honesty transparency and visibility in the schools and community.
- A forward-thinking leader who cultivates an effective cabinet and fosters collaborative relationships throughout the district.
- A strong record of advocacy for all staff students and families and for public education in the community and at the state level.
- An effective approachable communicator who listens actively and supports a culture of accountability at every level in the district.
- Experience with the complexity of school finance and budgeting particularly Alaska school finance as well as Federal Title and IDEA funding.
- Experience and motivation to actively support and expand career pathways life skills dual-enrollment special education and the districts alternative programs.
- Experience working with Alaska Native and Tribal organizations military service organizations and other community stakeholders.
- A strong record of building maintaining and expanding community and business partnerships.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic plans in public education.
