The Clinical Assistant provides delegated clinical and administrative support to an assigned RN Team Supervisor. This role functions as an extension of the RN carrying out tasks that do not require RN-level assessment or clinical judgment in accordance with scope of practice training and competency. The Clinical Assistant does not function independently; work is prioritized and directed by the RN Team Supervisor. This position functions under the clinical supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse and does not independently assess or manage patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES -
Clinical Support:
- Performs clinical tasks delegated by RN per protocol and competency
Patient Outreach & Follow-Up:
- Conducts outreach calls and reminders
- Follows scripted protocols for lab and visit follow-up
- Supports care gap closure activities
- Escalates clinical concerns promptly to RN supervisor/provider as appropriate
Documentation & Workflow Support:
- Enters clinical data into EHR
- Tracks referrals labs and follow-up tasks
- Supports prior authorizations and care coordination workflows
Team Collaboration:
- Participates in daily huddles with RN/team
- Communicates task status and barriers
- Supports team-based care goals
Misc.:
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring confidentiality.
- Willingness to work under RN supervision and delegation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited MA or LPN program or equivalent documented clinical experience
- Either:
- Current MA certification (CMA RMA NCMA or equivalent) OR
- Current unrestricted LPN license in the state of practice
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- CPR certified (BLS) or ability to obtain.
- 0-1 year of clinical experience in: Ambulatory care primary care FQHC or community health preferred.
- Entry-level candidates acceptable with structured onboarding.
- Maintains required licensure or certification as appropriate.
- Is comfortable with the pace of primary care working with an interdisciplinary team and has strong communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the NextGen EMR system highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs with the ability to effectively communicate using Outlook/TEAMS.
