Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be able to travel between multiple Food Pantry sites to assist with distribution.
  • Provide general outreach and promotion forprogram (outdoor and indoor)
  • Provideofficesupport including: clerical filing faxing scanning typingphotocopyingand sorting mail
  • Answer telephones and offer other officesupportwhen necessary
  • Report to and meet withsupervisoron aweeklybasis or as determined
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Program Specific Responsibilities

  • Support strategiesforcommunityoutreachand recruitment
  • Become knowledgeableof everycomponent andservice offered bythe CMCC Food Pantry
  • Provideassistancewith all Food Pantryactivities such as liftingboxes sortingfoodassistingwith inventorymanagement andcrowd control
  • Complete data entry for Food Pantry clients
  • Greet clients and scheduleappointments forthemtoreceive services
  • Create and distributeinformational materials and fliers in targeted (and other)communities in theBronxto promoteservices events and other special functions
  • Refer clientsto anappropriate programforenrollment services
  • Perform dataentrywork
  • Perform otherduties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diplomaorequivalent
  • Proficiencyin modern business communications including personal computerslaptops cell phones tablets iPadelectronicmail voicemail facsimileandcopierequipment
  • ProficiencyinEnglish required; proficiencyin Bengali Spanish or French is preferred
  • Drivers License preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand walk or sit for long periods of time or climb five flights of stairs if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
