Legal Assistant Insurance Defense Litigation Location: Austin TX

About the Role This position supports a busy insurance defense litigation practice handling complex high-exposure matters. The Legal Assistant will work closely with attorneys throughout the full litigation lifecycle from initial case development through trial.
The role is well suited for someone with hands-on insurance defense experience who is comfortable managing multiple cases meeting strict deadlines and working in a fast-paced in-office litigation environment. Attention to detail strong organizational skills and confidence with court procedures are critical for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities -
Draft revise and format legal documents for attorney review including pleadings motions subpoenas discovery requests and responses interrogatories and correspondence

Review organize and summarize medical records reports discovery materials and other case-related documentation
-
Manage State and Federal court filings including e-filings and CM/ECF submissions while tracking deadlines and docket activity
-
Assist attorneys with deposition preparation including organizing exhibits deposition materials and witness files
-
Support pre-trial and trial preparation including preparing trial binders exhibits and demonstrative evidence
-
Conduct basic legal research and assist with factual investigations as needed
-
Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court rules and internal procedures
-
Provide in-office litigation support and trial assistance when required
Key Qualifications -
5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in an insurance defense or civil defense litigation environment

Strong working knowledge of civil litigation procedures and legal document preparation
-
Hands-on experience with State and Federal court systems including CM/ECF filings
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
-
Comfortable working in a fast-paced deadline-driven in-office setting
-
Proficiency with legal software document management systems and Microsoft Office tools

Ability to quickly review analyze and summarize large volumes of information

Bilingual skills are a plus but not required
