Position Summary
The Senior Traditional Undergraduate Admission Counselor - Athletic Liaison is focused on the external recruitment activity and relationships with prospective student athletes as identified through targeted athletic recruiting practices. Working alongside the CUW athletic coaching staff The Admission Counselor will hold the primary responsibility for engaging prospective new student athletic recruits from inquiry to tuition deposit. This role will also be responsible for the development and completion of an annual recruitment plan within ones assigned non-athlete focused geographic territory. As a key public-facing revenue-generating role the position carries annual measurable enrollment goals.
Strong interpersonal engagement dynamic energy communication and collaboration are key strengths for success in this role. This full-time exempt position is integral for key success indicators within the traditional undergraduate strategic enrollment plan. This position will report to the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admission.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Positively represent CUW and its mission statement.
- Collaborate with coaches of all athletic programs to support their recruitment efforts and provide admission guidance for top recruits.
- Interview and counsel prospective undergraduate students.
- Provide consistent guidance for students through their admission process including admission decision financial aid and new student next steps.
- Attend college fairs visit high schools within targeted area and host information sessions.
- Maintain relationships with program directors faculty staff of partner departments and others.
- Attend and participate in campus-based events to facilitate recruitment goals.
- Develop an annual recruitment plan and work toward institutional goals
- May perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Experience and knowledge of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.
- Ideal candidate will have attended Lutheran secondary schooling and/or college.
- Preferred knowledge of NCAA Division III recruiting rules and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills - written and oral especially public speaking.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a schedule.
- Knowledge and skill in use of computers and software common to the academic setting especially a CRM.
- Must be available to work some weekend and evenings.
- Overnight travel required
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree minimum; pursuit of Masters degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience preferred
