Work Location:Virginia Beach VA

Essential duties:

Serves as the primary contact for all student contact (walk-ins phone calls emails etc.) during specified office hours)
Navigates and assists the students through the process of requesting accommodations
Reviews documentation and identifies students needs for accommodations
Approves and notifies student of reasonable accommodations; also navigates the process of denying accommodations and working with students to determine next steps
Maintains and protects confidentiality of students with disabilities
Collaborates with faculty to ensure ADA compliance and effective implementation of identified accommodations
Fulfills accommodations such as alternative text requests transcription/captioning services etc. are fulfilled in an efficient and timely fashion
Arranges and completes case conferences with students and other staff members to investigate and resolve concerns regarding accommodations
Assists in developing institutional policies and procedures relevant to the ADA and affecting students with disabilities
Conducts workshops and in-service trainings
Keeps current with interpretations of ADA law related to accessibility and student services within higher education
Maintains and updates confidential student files to include their documentation emails other forms of contact etc.
Participates and assists in the provision of student accommodations & general accessibility services during the Universitys Commencement & Commissioning
Collaborates on office-wide projects/growth measures.

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree required. Should be in a field such as counseling psychology social work special education or disability related field. Outside fields may be considered.
