Job Summary

Carlow University is now accepting application for the position ofCampus Minister. The Campus Minister provides leadership for and actively contributes to the ongoing development expression and reflection on the Universitys Catholic heritage and culture in concert with and support of the Mission and Values of the University. The Campus Ministeris responsible forthe oversight and development of opportunities toassistmembers of the university community (studentsfacultyand staff) in their spiritual growth and development primarily through the sacramental and liturgical life of the campus community and other faith-related programmatic offerings.

The Campus Minister provides pastoral care and spiritual guidance to members of the university community as needed and in service to the spiritual health and growth of the individual and the university community. The Campus Minister collaborates with awide-rangeof university personnel and academic and co-curricular departmentsin order toenhance the overall educational experience of Carlow University students and with the other Catholic Universities in our area and with Campus Ministers in The ConferenceForMercy Higher Education.

This position follow a ten-monthacademic calendar June and July being the normal time off.

Responsibilities:

Mission and Vision
Active participation in and contribution to university meetings processesactivitiesand events related to ongoing reflection and appropriation of the Mission and Values of the University.
Work collaboratively with the Special Assistant to the President for Mercy Heritage to tend to the ongoing development of a Catholic and Mercy culture at Carlow.
Participatein orientation programs for new students and employees of the University.
Advise and provide University departments groups and personnel with resources and information related to the Universitys Catholic heritage and culture as needed and/orrequested.
Serve on ad hoc committees or groups whose work wouldbenefitfrom or requires insights from the Universitys Catholic tradition.

Spiritual Growth and Development
Work collaboratively with diocesan offices and clergy of St. Paul Cathedralas needed.
Plan and oversee all liturgical events and celebrations on campus collaborating with the University chaplain and Campus Ministry support groups withappropriate personneland departments as needed.
Provide and/or oversee spiritual development faith formation worshipopportunitiesand pastoral care in the Catholic tradition for the University community collaborating withUniversitydepartments and personnel as well as other Catholic collegesuniversitiesand campus ministries.
Provide information resources referrals toappropriate faithformation spiritual development worshipopportunitiesand pastoral care for students of all religious denominations providing opportunities to learn one anothers beliefs and traditions
Collaborate with co-curricular departments and personnel in providing and supporting the social dimension of students university experience.

Pastoral Care
Provide a spiritual/pastoral presence as needed atUniversityfunctionseventsand activities.
Respond to the pastoral needs of members of the University community as needed and/orappropriateand in service to the spiritual health and wellbeing of the University community.
Provide opportunities for members of the University community to reflect both personally and communally on their experiencein light ofthe Universitys Catholic and Mercy heritage.

Administrative Responsibilities
Develop and oversee department budget.
Represent Carlow University to diocesan regional and national campus ministrygatheringsand groups.
Maintainand oversee of McAuley Chapel (includes sacristy) and its use by members of the University community
Maintainthe campus ministry section of the universitys website ().
MaintainChapel supplies linens and vestments
Hire and supervise work study students as needed and available.

Required experience skills knowledge:

Demonstrateawareness and appreciation of the Catholic faith and respect for other religious traditions.
Demonstrateunderstanding of and appreciation for Catholic higher education the Catholic intellectual tradition and Catholic social teaching.
3-5 years ofdemonstratedexperience of relating well and working collaboratively with a diverse population of students facultystaffand administrators in higher education.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer application skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
Masters degree in theologyministryor related field.
Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA) Certification (or ability to achieve certification within 2 years).
Creativity in programming
Enthusiasm and energy for working with college age students
