The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. POSITION DUTIES

A Commitment Records Specialist Lead is responsible for reviewing auditing and adjusting inmate records specialized commitment addition processes other inmate information into Statewide Computer Systemmaintaining necessary backup information.

Reviews auditsand adjusts inmaterecordsfollowing specializedcommitment procedures which may include:
Reviewingandadjustinginmatecommitmentinformation uponintake.
Adjustinginmaterecordsasnecessaryininstancesofescape release or parole violations.
Reviewingandadjustingallinmaterecordspriortoreleasecourt appearances or transfers.
Process50to60newcommitmentpacketsforverificationand file in active files.
Process50to60inmatecommitmentpapersandprepareforrelease daily.
Processthepreparationofapproximately250inmatecommitmentpapersforcourtappearanceinDistrictand CircuitCourt.
Process30ormoresentencedinmatesfortransfer toDivisionof Corrections.

ProcessesotherinmateinformationintoStatewideComputerSystem maintainingnecessarybackup informationincludingbutnotlimitedto:
Placingandliftingdetainerinformation.
Postinginmategoodconductcreditsorrevocationofcredits.
Postingcourtdatesdispositionsorotherpertinentinformation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in reviewing verifying and interpreting information in order to make determinations and resolve problems involving the calculation of prison sentences in accordance with applicable laws and the regulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience performing audits.
2. Experience working with Maryland Electronic Courts (MDEC) and comparable Offender Case Management systems (OCMS).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached.

Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)
Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year
Sick Leave - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year
Parental Leave - up to sixty (60) days of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child
Holidays - State employees also celebrate at least twelve (12) holidays per year
Pension - State employees earn credit towards a retirement pension.
