About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and community-focused Healthy Homes Officer to support the delivery of the Councils Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This role focuses on improving housing conditions reducing health risks tackling fuel poverty and supporting vulnerable residents to live safely and independently in their homes.

You will work closely with residents health and social care partners and community organisations to identify risks deliver interventions and promote healthier housing outcomes across the city.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Act as the main point of contact for health social care and partner agencies regarding housing-related health concerns.
  • Receive referrals and carry out home visits to assess risks linked to property conditions or lifestyle factors.
  • Work with residents to identify practical solutions and explain available housing health and wellbeing support.
  • Lead targeted Healthy Homes initiatives including projects focused on energy efficiency and fuel poverty.
  • Build strong relationships with community groups and partner agencies to promote the service and encourage referrals.
  • Manage a personal caseload completing accurate assessments reports and progress updates for referrers.
  • Contribute to service planning campaigns and performance monitoring to support continuous improvement.

About You

You will be empathetic organised and confident working with vulnerable people with a strong understanding of how housing conditions impact health and wellbeing.

You Will Have:

  • Experience working directly with social housing tenants or vulnerable residents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with health social care contractors and other professionals.
  • Knowledge of housing standards and risks including HHSRS Decent Homes and energy efficiency.
  • Experience assessing property-related risks and using evidence (including data) to inform actions.
  • Understanding of asset management principles within a social housing environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain options clearly and build trust with clients.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively using IT systems to maintain accurate records and reports.
