The opportunity
We have an opportunity for you to join the Statewide Support Services team. As a Cancer Support Coordinator you will provide support services to assist people in the Great Southern region affected by cancer.
This position is permanent part-time 7.5 hours per week based in Albany. Some travel may be required for this role.
What youll be doing
Your main responsibilities will include:
Assessment and provision of emotional social and practical support to individuals families and communities affected by cancer
Assist in the delivery of support programs
Ensuring your surrounding community has access to our latest information
Promoting and increasing awareness of our support services in the region
Building and maintain stakeholder relationships
Developing and managing a team of skilled support Volunteers in the region
Maintaining collecting analysing and reporting on data for the region
Improve awareness of CCWA services and maintain a presence in the community by developing working relationships with key stakeholders in the sectors
About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following key attributes:
A tertiary qualification in Nursing Health or Allied Health desirably registered with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency or equivalent body
Experience in the provision of supportive care and an interest in working closely with people affected by cancer.
Experience in client/patient assessment with the ability to provide immediate support and appropriate referral in relation to client needs
Experience in providing support to people diagnosed & living with cancer is desirable
Experience building and maintaining relationships with key community stakeholders with the ability to expand existing networks as well as identify and establish new networks
Strong interpersonal skills with well-developed relationship management and communication skills
The ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks. Ability to work autonomously whilst being a member of a state-wide team.
Intermediate use of Microsoft Office Suite
National Police Clearance
Current WA Drivers Licence
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
