Software Development Engineer, Actuation Service, Shopping AI

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our Shopping Platform team focusing on critical actuation service that powers Amazons agentic shopping experiences. Youll work on high-scale distributed systems that enable seamless shopping endpoints and multi-agent frameworks directly impacting millions of customers worldwide

Join us to enable customers to seamlessly shop anywhere on the internet without leaving the Amazon app. We are building AI-powered shopping experiences that will transform how millions of customers purchase products from thousands of brands not on Amazon. Our solution is live in production today ( and poised for dramatic scale-up as a flagship goal for Amazon Shopping in 2026.

This is a ground-floor opportunity in an emerging space. Youll build critical actuation infrastructure that executes shopping actions across diverse websites. As part of the actuation team youll create the execution layer that turns AI agent decisions into real shopping actions.

Youll work alongside a team of passionate talented engineers collaborating closely with our multi-agent framework team and other platform components. A day in the life
Core development work: Design and implement scalable actuation services that execute shopping workflows - whether thats building new cart management APIs optimizing checkout execution flows or building systems to improve purchase success rates. Youll write clean maintainable code that handles the complexity of interacting with thousands of different brand websites.

Cross-functional collaboration: Work with Applied Scientists to understand new AI agent behaviors that need execution support collaborate with the Payments team to integrate secure transaction flows and partner with UI teams to ensure seamless customer experiences. Youll also engage with Product Managers to prioritize which brand integrations and shopping flows to build next.

Security and reliability: Build secure payment and authentication systems that handle sensitive customer data while enabling automated transactions with strict privacy and security controls.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience debugging profiling and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems
