The Assistant General Counsel reports to the LATAM Legal Director and provides legal leadership for Nike in Latam. You will work in close partnership with Government and Public Affairs to support government engagement regulatory strategy and issue management across the territory. Nike seeks an Assistant General Counsel with strong commercial judgment and a highly collaborative mindset. This leader goes beyond transactional law understanding business needs anticipating risk and delivering clear practical solutions-oriented counsel in a fast-paced matrixed environment.
The successful candidate is confident engaging senior leaders capable of operating independently and/or with Geo and Global teams. This role requires legal rigor commercial pragmatism and sound judgment across a broad range of legal regulatory and business issues impacting Latam.
Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree or international equivalent; licensed to practice law in Mexico
1015 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department; multinational experience strongly preferred
Substantive experience advising on commercial consumer advertising and competition law matters related to sales distribution and marketing of consumer goods in Latin America including distributor and partner agreements
Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing strategic transactions
Experience supporting regulatory matters government engagement or public-sector stakeholder management in partnership with Government and Public Affairs
Experience in one ore more of the following areas is a plus: sports marketing labor law corporate governance or digital commerce
Fluent in Spanish and English (oral and written); Portuguese is a plus

You will be a trusted advisor delivering clear practical legal guidance for Nike Latam business. You will collaborate closely with legal professionals globally and regionally support senior leadership and help drive legal excellence across the territory.
You will:
Lead legal support for distributor wholesaler and partner relationships across Latam including sales marketing and route-to-market arrangements
Advise on sales programs incentives promotions pricing structures and commercial terms impacting consumers and partners
Support and negotiate sales distribution and commercialization agreements including amendments renewals terminations and dispute resolution
Support development and implementation of legal policies standards templates and negotiation playbooks
Deliver legal training programs to enhance business outcomes manage risk and promote consistent practices across the territory
Drive process and tool improvements including adoption of new technologies and self-service solutions
