Job Summary:

Conducts appropriate psychological assessments and provides interventions and consultation services that follow due process with educators administrators families and other mental health professionals to create safe healthy and supportive learning environments for all students and strengthen connections between home and school.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Idaho Education Credential with proper endorsement.
  • Positive public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assess students cognitive academic emotional social behavioral and adaptive skills and abilities using a variety of instruments and techniques that are appropriate for the individual student.
  2. Summarize interpret and communicate data obtained from assessments in a meaningful manner.
  3. Collect and utilize pertinent data from outside sources in assessments.
  4. Establish and maintain expertise in using technology such as data management report writing and data analysis.
  5. Serve as a liaison with school and community professionals and paraprofessionals in order to gather and/or disseminate information pertinent to referrals.
  6. Collaborate with others to develop appropriate cognitive and academic goals for students with different abilities disabilities strengths needs and develop interventions to achieve these goals.
  7. Apply sound principles of data-based decision-making to all aspects of practice (e.g. designing interventions monitoring student progress consulting with school administrators and disseminating intervention research finds within the school setting).
  8. Identify diverse cultural issues situations and other factors that influence family school and community interactions and address such issues when developing and providing services.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge regarding the social affective and adaptive domains of child development.
  10. Identify and apply sound principles of behavior change within these domains to asses in designing and implementing prevention and intervention using positive behavioral supports.
  11. Maintain a system of record-keeping and data collection following required procedures as outlined in the Special Education Manual and Medicaid policies.
  12. Ensure that students and families know about community services and programs and assist them in accessing these as appropriate.
  13. Facilitate group approaches such as counseling and class meetings to address school based adjustment problems.
  14. Provide psychological referral assistance for families.
  15. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers other school staff and families as part of a team within the school setting.
  16. Assist in placement decisions to promote the least restrictive environment for students.
  17. Maintain appropriate forms and records to document due process procedures.
  18. Stay current with school psychology best practices through ongoing professional growth and development.
  19. Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  20. Deal with students parents staff and others in a positive encouraging manner.
  21. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
  22. Any other duties as assigned.
