Job Summary

The Division of Radiation Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University seeksmotivated medical physicists to join the Division as Clinical Assistant/Associate Professors in the ClinicianEducator line. We are interested in candidates who are ABR board certified have a PhD or equivalentand a record of research in clinical medical physics. The successful candidates will join a dynamic andsupportive team providing comprehensive clinical physics services at Stanford.

At the Palo Alto main campus we are currently seeking support for external beam and brachytherapyservices and have two positions available. Faculty typically cover one or two clinical service linesmostcommonly external beam brachytherapy or bothwith flexibility to rotate or cross-cover as programneeds evolve.

Additionally to support our expanding clinical footprint we are seeking a Lead Physicist to overseephysics services at our new regional center in Oakland working alongside two physicists and twodosimetrists with plans for team expansion. The Lead Physicist position requires a minimum three yearsof experience; five years is preferred. Managerial or supervisory experience in clinical setting ispreferred. This new cancer center will offer both external beam and brachytherapy using two VarianTrueBeams one Varian Edge linacs equipped with surface guidance system and a Varian Bravos systemfor HDR brachytherapy. The center will have a CT simulator a PET/CT a SPECT/CT and an MRI sharedwith radiology and will have an open linac vault for future development.

The department operates a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment including two Accuray CyberKnifesystems one RefleXion X1 one ViewRay MRIdian one Mevion S250Fit proton therapy platform andthree Varian TrueBeams at Palo Alto campus. Additionally the department has two PET/CT simulatorsand a 3T MRI simulator. Treatment planning systems include the Accuray Precision RaySearchRayStation and Varian Eclipse systems integrated with the ARIA patient information system. Thebrachytherapy service (HDR and LDR) is supported by Bravos systems with BrachyVision and Vitessereal-time planning. The department also utilizes a Mobetron IntraOp electron accelerator. StanfordMedicine operates four satellite clinics in the Bay Area with a total of seven Varian TrueBeams and oneEdge.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinicalcare teaching administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual isexpected to fulfill. The Clinician Educator (CE) line is characterized by the primary focus on clinical care(generally 90%). CE candidates are to show initiative and commitment in their clinical and teachingroles. Involvement in departmental translational research initiatives is encouraged and supported. Astrong sense of initiative and a commitment to excellence in clinical practice research and teaching arerequired. Additionally excellent verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking alignment with the divisions clinical coverage requirements the candidates might beexpected to provide coverage across satellite sites and all clinical groups depending on vacationconferences or paid development leaves.

The activities of the Division/Department are diverse and include basic science and translationalresearch programs in Radiation Biology Radiation Physics and Imaging offering unique opportunitiesfor the successful candidates to integrate into these research programs. The Stanford Cancer CenterPalo Alto practice has been fully accredited by ASTROs APEx Accreditation Program for Excellence.

The expected base pay range for the position is:

Clinical Assistant Professor: $194000 - $387000

Clinical Associate Professor: $237000 - $407000

This pay range reflects base pay which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include allcomponents of the School of Medicines faculty compensation program or pay from participation indepartmental incentive compensation programs.
