The British School in the Netherlands is looking for a full-time Key Stage 3 Coordinator from September 2026. This is a role which will have pastoral and academic oversight of Years 7-9 and the successful applicant will lead a team of tutors providing excellent pastoral care.
The successful candidate must be a team player with a good sense of humour patient caring calm and firm but fair.
The role will initially be based at Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and may require the candidate to work in another campus in the future). SSL is a three form entry school with each year group made up of a maximum of 72 pupils. You will lead and manage nine form tutors holding regular meetings and contributing to pastoral meetings. You will be familiar with the issues and challenges faced by young people and demonstrate that you have the people skills required when dealing with parents. Evidence that you have equipped yourself for this challenging post through professional development and experience would be an advantage.
As Key Stage 3 Coordinator you will have a sound knowledge of the curriculum and be able to support and guide students and parents through the transition and option choice procedure.
You will lead and arrange year group assemblies help with arrangements for school events and support the extra-curricular activities programme. You will be prepared to attend CPD feeding back to colleagues and leading pastoral development.
You will work closely with the Key Stage 4 Coordinator and Head of Yr12 and 13 who are all led by a the pastoral Assistant Headteacher and supported by the School Counsellors and healthcare addition you will join our safeguarding team as one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. Any necessary training will be provided.
There is a teaching commitment associated with this post so candidates are asked to indicate their specialist subject area in the application. Ability to offer Chemistry Maths PE Business BTEC Italian German or Dutch may be an advantage.
Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Work alongside Senior Leaders other pastoral leaders Heads of PSHE AEN EAL and our Healthcare professionals.
Work collaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and the other deputy DSLs to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.
Work with DSLs from other BSN campuses as part of the whole school safeguarding team.
Yr 9 GCSE option process.
Yr 6 to 7 Transition.
Organisation of celebration events.
Report checking and analysis.
Lead and arrange year group assemblies.
Support the CCA programme for the relevant year groups.
