Duties and Responsibilities


  1. Meet with Associate/ Assistant Directors Resident Directors and student staff regularly to maintain consistent communication on trends and issues impacting residential students.
  2. Facilitate intake meetings with residents to assess needs holistically as necessary.
  3. Provide follow-up and support to residents and housing staff after emergency and crisis situations involving but not limited to mental health Title IX homesickness and other distressed residents.
  4. Maintain records of the number and type of interactions with residents and housing staff responses to crisis and emergency situations and other interactions with residents/staff.
  5. Consult with Residence Life staff on policies protocols and procedures regarding on-call response and support of residents.
  6. Coordinate student success plans referrals and support including follow-up appointments as necessary.
  7. Maintain accurate and timely case documentation using Maxient and/or Roompact database.
  8. Refer students with the appropriate resources on- and off-campus.
  9. Maintain working knowledge of mental health trends and issues student development theory and practice higher education law (e.g. FERPA ADA HIPPA etc.).
  10. Work collaboratively with the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) Office of Student Conduct (OSC) Counseling and Student Development Center (CSDC) to provide continuous institutional support and resources to residential students.
  11. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  1. Possession of Bachelors degree in social work counseling education or closely related field from an accredited college or university and 0 year(s).
  2. Experience and competency working with diverse populations with regard to race ethnicity ability status sexual orientation and gender identity.
  3. Demonstrated effective human relations and effective communication skills in written and oral form and in a variety of situations.
  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Experience in an educational setting
  6. Ability to understand the commitment to the educational and student development objective of Student Housing Services.
  7. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing tasks
  8. Ability to work independently.
  9. Ability to use computer spreadsheet applications.


Desirable Qualifications


  1. Experience in case management and/or experience providing support to individuals in crisis.
