Job Summary

Job Title: Locum Nurse Practitioner - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

Summary: Join a leading facility in Tacoma WA where St. Joseph Medical Center is actively seeking two Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to start as soon as possible. This practice environment emphasizes collaboration and high-quality patient care in both inpatient surgical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with pre and post-operative patient evaluation and treatment.
Perform OR first assist duties for coronary artery bypass valve surgeries and aortic procedures.
Conduct robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries and minimally invasive valve procedures.
Manage endoscopic and open vascular harvest procedures.
Provide care for ICU and step-down patients including emergent procedures like chest tube and arterial line insertions.
Conduct daily patient rounds and compile discharge summaries.
Participate in evening night and weekend surgeries as needed.
Conduct walk-in/urgent clinic visits and wound checks when primary surgeon is unavailable.
Participate in scheduled call every 6th night and weekend.
Collaborate with a team of 5 permanent surgeons and supportive nursing staff.

Qualifications:

Board Certification in Nurse Practitioner - Required.
State License for Washington - Highly preferred (will consider IMLC).
Minimum 3 years of CV/CT surgery experience - Required.
ACLS BLS and DEA certifications - Required.
Clean malpractice history - Required.

License and Certification Requirements:

Current State License in Washington - Highly preferred.
Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner - Required.
ACLS BLS and DEA certifications - Required.
Clean malpractice history - Required.
