Job Description
The Zumba Instructor is responsible for leading safe high engaging/energy and effective group fitness classes that support the health and wellness goals of participants. This position plays an important role in delivering high-quality fitness programming while providing excellent customer service to members and guests. Group Fitness Instructors work under the general supervision of the Fitness Coordinator.
Schedule: Evening and weekend hours required
Pay Rate:$27$32 per hour depending on qualifications (DOQ)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead Zumba group fitness classes in a safe motivating and professional manner while accommodating a variety of fitness levels.
- Ensure the proper use care and general condition of all group fitness and audio equipment.
- Open secure and maintain storage areas and equipment before and after classes.
- Assist participants with proper techniques modifications and skills to safely perform exercises.
- Provide accurate information and assistance to members guests and staff regarding assigned classes.
- Communicate participant feedback concerns equipment issues or safety matters to the Fitness Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Serve as a substitute instructor for other group fitness classes when qualified and available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A commitment to and belief in the organizations shared values.
- Current Zumba Certification required.
- CPR Certification (ARC or AHA).
- Strong customer service background.
- Ability to handle customer concerns and assist with customer needs.
Preferred Qualifications(desired but not expected to have to enter job)- Previous experience teaching fitness classes is preferred.
- First Aid Certification.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Safe and effective group fitness instruction practices.
- Basic anatomy exercise physiology kinesiology and injury prevention principles.
- General health wellness and fitness concepts.
Skilled in:
- Instructing and engaging large groups of participants.
- Developing and delivering safe effective and enjoyable workouts.
Ability to:
- Instruct participants in the proper use of fitness equipment.
- Learn and follow facility policies programs and procedures.
- Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with staff and the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to demonstrate Zumba movements and exercises for extended periods.
- Ability to stand walk bend reach and move continuously during classes.
- Ability to lift and move fitness equipment (up to approximately 2530 lbs).
- Ability to work in a loud active environment with music and large groups.
