Job Summary

Our client an American door frame & hardware company offering a complete range of commercial door opening & security products in the USA and beyond since 1972.

Looking to hire a Project Manager with experience in Division 8 hollow metal/commercial doors frames and hardware. The location is an in-office position to work from our office in Garden City Park NY.

Candidates must have the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings specifications and to write Request for Quotes to vendors creation of project cost/selling price identify errors or conflicts in specs and communicate with the customers as needed. Knowledge of industry specific software is a plus but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word Excel Outlook etc.) is must.

They do not perform installations. We are a material supplier to contractors construction management firms door companies locksmiths lumber yards facility management companies etc.

Job Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with customers builders and contractors and architects as needed to determine project requirements.
  • Ability to detail all aspects of a project including the creation of pricing identify mistakes or errors in specs and communicate with the customer as needed.
  • Discuss and present product recommendations and solutions to customers for job specific requirements.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions.
  • Monitor and review project progress to ensure quality standards and customer expectations are met.
  • Communicate project status to all required parties.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Track job materials and coordinate material deliveries when ready.
  • Take a set of architectural drawings specifications architects door frame & hardware schedules and compose a complete take-off and write-up a detailed report of all products needed for the specific project(s).
  • Write Requests for Quote to Vendors to obtain material costs for non-stock items.
  • Generate a professional job quote to present to the customer.
  • Review Purchase orders for accuracy and possible errors.
  • Process orders and acknowledgements for doors frames and hardware for said projects.
  • Once the quote is approved you will manage the project through until delivery and invoicing. You will manage all aspects of the project including the creation of the Submittal Package (Door Frame & Hardware Schedules) purchase orders and fabrication/listing sheets for our shop and coordinate delivery with the people in the field.
  • You will be working and communicating with customers and their employees so professionalism and strong communication skills are a must.
  • From time to time you will have meetings in-person with the customer or vendor/rep so a neat and clean appearance is also a must.
  • Negotiate pricing and agreements with clients partners and vendors.
  • Build relationships with key partners (customers & vendors).
  • Maintain and promote a positive attitude toward customers and fellow employees regardless of the circumstances.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a Division 8 company manufacturing selling or installing commercial doors frames and hardware with a proven track record as a Project Manager Estimator or Sales Person.
  • Strong background in project management with the ability to successfully oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Track record of driving business development and achieving revenue targets.
  • Proficient in negotiating contracts and agreements with clients partners and vendors.
  • Experience in implementing process improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate co-workers towards achieving organizational goals.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word and Outlook etc.) is a must.
  • Proficiency in Masonites Door Builder software is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to navigate internet & work with e-mail is a must.
  • We will train you in our industry-related software for doors frames & hardware as needed.
  • You must be detail-oriented with strong communication & organizational skills and able to see a project through from start to finish.
  • In addition our office is small and sometimes it is fast-paced and sometimes it is not. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task are important skills to possess for success especially in a small office environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65000-$95000 Annually based on experience.
