About the role

  • Play an active role in cutting-edge research within the Blood Stem Cell and Cancer Research Program investigating how biological ageing impacts haematopoietic stem cells and contributes to haematological disease.

  • Design perform and drive high-quality cellular and molecular biology experiments including cell functional assays and flow cytometry as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team of leading scientists and clinicians.

  • Contribute to the discovery and characterisation of genes and somatic mutations in blood disorders translating experimental findings into impactful reports publications and presentations.

  • Support and contribute to the development of competitive research funding and grant applications helping to advance and sustain an innovative research program with clinical relevance.

  • Uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity by ensuring all work is conducted safely efficiently and in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice institutional policies and health and safety requirements while supporting broader program objectives as directed by the Research Program Head or delegate.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in biological science medical science or a related discipline.

  • Proven laboratory experience in haematological cell functionality assays including techniques such as iPSC-based models.

  • Well-developed communication organisational and interpersonal skills with strong computer literacy; experience in writing research papers ethics applications and research grants is desirable.

  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced research environment and a willingness to supervise and support students.
