Inviting applications for the role of Senior Principal Consultant - Azure SQL DBA

Responsibilities
Azure SQL Migration & Modernization
Lead SQL Server migrations from On-Prem / Azure VM (IaaS) to Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Perform database assessment and compatibility analysis using Azure Migrate and Data Migration Assistant (DMA).
Define migration strategies (rehost re-platform refactor) aligned with application requirements.
Execute online and offline migrations using Azure Database Migration Service (DMS).
Validate data consistency performance and application functionality post-migration.
Azure SQL Engineering & Operations
Design and manage Azure SQL PaaS architectures including elastic pools and managed instances.
Implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) using Azure-native capabilities.
Configure automated backups retention policies and point-in-time restore.
Monitor and tune performance using Query Store Azure Monitor Log Analytics and SQL insights.
Right-size Azure SQL resources to optimize performance and cost.
Security Governance & Compliance
Implement Azure AD authentication role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege models.
Enable Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) auditing threat detection and private endpoints.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security and data governance standards.
Participate in audits risk assessments and change management processes.
Automation & DevOps Integration
Automate database provisioning and configuration using ARM templates Bicep or Terraform.
Support CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
Script routine DBA tasks using PowerShell and T-SQL.
Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to improve reliability and operational maturity.
Collaboration & Support
Partner with application teams Azure architects and cloud operations during migration waves.
Provide L3 support for production Azure SQL environments.
Document standards runbooks and best practices for Azure SQL operations.

Required Experience & Qualifications
Good exp in DBA enterprise environments
Proven experience with SQL Server IaaS to Azure SQL PaaS migrations
Strong understanding of Azure shared responsibility model
Experience supporting mission-critical production databases
Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience
Microsoft Azure certification (AZ-104 DP-300) preferred

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Experience working in transformation and modernization programs
Mentoring junior DBAs and contributing to knowledge sharing

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
Experience integrating SQL databases with Azure-based SaaS applications
Knowledge of FinOps principles for Azure SQL cost management
Exposure to Always On architectures (On-Prem to Azure transition)
